Hill Labs Launches Local Hair Follicle Testing for Drugs & Alcohol

Hair follicle testing is one of the most reliable ways to detect long-term substance use, and we’re excited to announce that Hill Labs now offers this testing for drugs and alcohol. Unlike urine or blood tests, which typically cover a short window, hair testing can provide insight into substance use over several months. This makes it especially valuable in employment screening, legal cases, and safety-sensitive industries.

Until now, this type of testing had to be sent overseas, which meant longer wait times, higher costs, and less local support. But with this service now available in-house, we can deliver faster results and provide the trusted, hands-on service our clients expect.

This new service underscores our commitment to offering world-class science with the responsiveness and reliability of a New Zealand-based provider. It’s another way we’re making advanced testing more accessible to Kiwi businesses, legal teams, and health professionals—backed by the high-quality service and integrity Hill Labs is known for.

Available panels include:

  • Amphetamine-Type Substances (e.g. methamphetamine, MDMA)
  • Cocaine and Metabolites
  • Opiates and Opioids
  • Cannabinoids
  • Phencyclidine (PCP)
  • Benzodiazepines
  • Ketamine and Metabolite
  • Buprenorphine and Metabolite
  • Propoxyphene and Metabolite
  • Alcohol Panel

Please note: hair testing is available to registered collection providers only, and donor consent is required in all cases.

Whether you're a workplace safety advisor, legal professional, or health provider, Hill Labs is here to deliver accurate, efficient results - right here in NZ. Contact our team at drugtest.csm@hill-labs.co.nz to learn more.
