Expanding Our Dairy and Apiculture Services Through FSQSNZ Acquisition

Strengthening Our Commitment to New Zealand’s Dairy and Apiculture Industries

Following our recent acquisitions of Food and Health Standards (FHS) and Auditing Solutions (AS), we’re excited to announce the next step in our growth journey: the acquisition of Food Safety Quality Solutions NZ (FSQSNZ Limited). This move, part of our joint venture with Sam Brooks, brings a trusted MPI-recognised agency into our fold, with over five years of combined experience in food safety and compliance.

Led by Rebecca Doidge, FSQSNZ has built a strong reputation for delivering evaluation and verification services into a range of sectors, including honey production, and with a recent entry into New Zealand’s dairy sector. This acquisition significantly enhances our ability to offer a broader, more integrated service package to our honey and dairy clients, streamlining access to essential testing and auditing services. Our expanded capabilities now include Risk Management Programme (RMP) evaluation and verification, dairy heat treatment, and premises and equipment evaluations.

With nationwide coverage and a proven track record of regulatory clarity and reliability, FSQSNZ strengthens our position as a comprehensive service provider across both the food and dairy industries. We’re excited to extend our support to the apiculture sector, providing the regulatory services they require to be able to operate in this sector.

Rebecca Doidge will continue in her role as Technical Manager, ensuring continuity and excellence in service delivery. She will also oversee the consultancy services provided through her new entity, Food and Risk Management Consulting Ltd. The official transition date is set for 1 July 2025, and we anticipate a smooth integration with no disruption to current services.

Reflections from Peter Lord, COO

It’s just over two months into my new role at Hill Labs and a good opportunity to provide an update. I have a strong personal alignment with Hill Lab’s values, and they provide a good framework from which I can reflect on what I’ve seen and learned. One of those values is People & Environment . It’s the people that have impressed me the most at Hill Labs. Not just individual’s technical knowledge and understanding of our customers, but also the collective effort to make Hill Labs a great place to work..

Embracing the Unpredictability of Every Kiwifruit Season

It's now been five years since Hill Labs established a Bay of Plenty branch dedicated to serving the New Zealand kiwifruit industry. Our Bay of Plenty branch collects kiwifruit samples from across Auckland, Waikato, Coromandel, Bay of Plenty, and Whanganui. These samples undergo a range of maturity testing at our Tauranga lab, providing trusted results for Zespri, growers, and packhouses to make informed harvest decisions.
