Appointment of New GM Operations

Following a rigorous recruitment process, we are very pleased to announce that Mike Wink will be starting with us as our new General Manager - Operations on Monday 2nd February next year. 

Mike brings a wealth of experience and a strong alignment with Hill Labs’ values. His leadership style and operational expertise will be instrumental as we continue to grow and navigate the increasing complexity of our multi-faceted business. 

Mike joins us from Fonterra where he has been the General Manager of Laboratory Operations for the past 9 years – his most recent role in a 25-year career in Laboratory Operations at Fonterra. As GM of Lab Operations, he led a team of over 400 staff across NZ, providing testing and technical services to Fonterra.  

Mike says, "I'm thrilled to be joining Hill Labs as General Manager – Operations. With over two decades in food laboratory operations, I’m passionate about driving excellence, fostering innovation, and supporting teams to thrive. Hill Labs’ values and vision for growth deeply resonate with me, and I’m excited to contribute to a business that’s both future-focused and people-centred. I look forward to working alongside a talented team and building on the strong foundations already in place.” 

Mike resides in Hamilton with his wife Julianne, who is a primary school teacher. They have two sons - one who is in his last year at Hamilton Boys High School and is off to Canterbury to study Engineering next year and the other completing his final year of a BSc Majoring in Chemistry at Otago. Outside of work, Mike is an active football and futsal player and enjoys watching a wide range of sports, particularly his sons’ representative futsal matches. 

Mike joins us at an exciting time in our journey, and we are looking forward to seeing him work with the rest of the executive team to lead the business toward new and exciting opportunities.
